I'm fairly sure I remember seeing a post by the author explaining that there are no ebooks or PDF files of the publication that you can obtain.

I anticipate that Baron's will be contacting me eventually about issuing another edition. Thus, I'm beginning to collect data and develop a rough idea of how I would want the fourth edition to look. And, when the project finally becomes official you can bet that both Baron's and I will be talking about an eBook edition.

Enjoy your little 8-legged electronic wonders! Didn't find it but This is weird What's up with that? I also used the auto thing that site has on there to suggest a site version.

Sort order. The revised TKG is the new standard reference for tarantula care though in reality the only thing even close is the first edition of the same. It's highly informative and as balanced as a reference text for such a young hobby can be.

Readers are given a nice overview of the pertinent facts, references to potential diversions in opinion, and are then encouraged continually to seek further info and make their own informed decisions.

It's unnecessarily verbose and while the "begin at the beginning" approach is great for a survey of everything tarantula, it is likely to lose a LOT of less tenacious readers before they ever get to the parts that can potentially improve the lives of their pets.

For all that I find the subject fascinating this book was nearly as good a sleeping-aid as some masters level psych texts I've read.

While the material quality is appreciated especially at the comparatively low price it was deeply annoying to have to change the angle of the book to read through one page. As much as I may want every new and experienced! View 1 comment. Jul 20, Edmund Hanna rated it really liked it Shelves: This book covers fundamental knowledge on tarantula husbandry. In a successful attempt to treat my arachnophobia, I had caught and kept three Chaetopelma Olivaceum-specie tarantulas with no prior experience, relying solely on intuition and online forums, until I decided to give this book a read.

As comprehensive as it is, I couldn't find enough specifics on this specie in particular I'm not surprised. As far as my resources go, scarce is literature on them.

I've met with other practical difficulties; in my country, arachnids which are not differentiated from insects here are unheard of as pets, and superstitiously frowned upon. This proved to be a challenge when looking for the appropriate items for their enclosures, and had to make do the terrarrium with any available substrate I used dirt from a garden pot , and I had to decorate them creatively with household items.

Moreover, the process of feeding them could only be sustained seasonally; I used to light-trap moths to feed them. I couldn't find healthy cockroaches for breeding It brought me joy to see them web around the little places I've fixed for them. Of course, if you're picking up this book, you most likely live somewhere with a more diverse arachnid fauna, and where you may download spider-food, enclosures and perhaps even set-ups readily available for you.

Many are sold online, and perhaps even in pet-stores. If this is your case, this book is a great companion, regardless of your knowledge on the topic. I started clueless.
